However, there was more to the story. The canine they identified as Hope wasn’t by herself. Accompanying her was a male dog bound to a post next to her. The two four-legged creatures were in appalling condition and elicited a powerful emotional response from the Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption shelter personnel in Mission, Kansas. Hope was lying in a bag filled with trash, barely able to move, while the other dog had difficulty remaining on his feet.
“We woke up to find two boxers on our property this morning or possibly during the night,” Unleashed Pet Rescue stated upon discovering the dogs. “To our dismay, Hope was abandoned in a garbage bag while Triumph was left tied to a pole. Unfortunately, Hope is in extremely poor health and cannot move due to exhaustion. She is undergoing treatment with antibiotics and medication for her pain. On the other hand, Triumph is unable to move his hind legs.”
Upon arrival, the dogs were promptly taken to the vets for examination and treatment. Hope’s condition was critical, as she was suffering from pyometra, an infected uterus, and a severe elbow infection. In addition, an ultrasound revealed masses on her adrenal glands and brain – possibilities of cancer. The rescuers are waiting for the test results to determine the extent of her cancer.
Danielle Reno, the CEO and founder of the rescue, expressed her wish for the cancer not to have advanced too much so that the dog can spend her remaining time in a comfortable home and receive lots of love and attention. The rescue recently provided an update on the dogs’ health after receiving medical treatment for several days. In positive news, Hope has gained 7 pounds since her arrival and has even regained her ability to walk! Although she is still on medication for her infected elbow and pyometra, she is feeling much happier.
According to Reno, the lady is proving her fighting spirit to everyone and continues to improve with each passing moment. Her progress is evident from her bright-eyed appearance. Triumph, on the other hand, is also moving forward as a video shared by the rescue shows him walking.
According to their message, the dog is undergoing medical treatment to strengthen its back and leg muscles, as it faces difficulty in moving around. The recovery plan includes hydrotherapy along with physical therapy. The dog has a gentle nature and currently resides in a foster home, where it’s receiving care. Reno assures that they will keep everyone informed of the dog’s progress and won’t abandon it. These lovely animals deserve boundless love and joy.
