Canine Saved from the Rubble: A 22-Day Tale of Survival Amidst Turkey’s Devastating Earthquakes

Alex, a husky dog, has been rescued after being trapped for 22 days in the wreckage caused by Turkey’s recent earthquakes. Despite not eating or drinking anything during this time, Alex was found alive and in good health, albeit having lost some weight. The dog’s owner contacted animal rescue workers after hearing his barks coming from the remains of a collapsed building. Unfortunately, many animals remain trapped in rubble and have been there for a long time. Over 50,000 people are believed to have died in the recent earthquakes, and thousands more remain missing. Various animal rescue organizations and volunteer teams are helping to find and care for pets affected by the earthquakes. In addition, Mexico has sent its search and rescue dog team to Turkey to assist with recovery efforts. Those wishing to help with relief efforts can consider donating to organizations such as The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Doctors Without Borders, GlobalGiving, Save the Children, and The Syrian American Medical Society.
