Angelina gave an emotional homage to her mother who is portrayed in this photograph from 2001.
In her speech, Jolie expressed gratitude towards her partner Brad Pitt and their son Maddox, emphasizing the importance of family ties.
Expressing gratitude: “Being here tonight with such amazing artists is truly humbling. Art and film were passions that my mother held dear,” Jolie stated in her address.
Jolie fondly remembers her mother as not being a harsh critic, as she always showed love and boosted her confidence. Although her mother didn’t have a habit of being critical, Jolie appreciated her support and the positive impact it had on her.
During a public speaking event, Jolie shared a piece of advice given to her by her mother. She stated that she plans to follow her mother’s request to the best of her abilities and make the most out of her life.
Expressing her thankfulness, Jolie remarked, “Being able to stand here today signifies that I fulfilled her request. I believe if she were with us, she would feel immensely proud. Hence, I extend my gratitude for it.”
The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award has been granted to some notable individuals in the past, such as Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Audrey Hepburn, and Oprah Winfrey.
